Entertaining
audiences at BLUE CHICAGO since
2010, Tenry
brings his love of the blues to the stage with such a fun and energetic presence
that he's known as TJ "the King Kong Rocker". With four albums under
his belt, Tenry has come a long way from his humble beginnings in a small town
in the Delta called Shelby, Mississippi.
Tenry
started his own band at the age of 15 while he was still in high school. After graduating in the mid '60s, his
family moved to Chicago. Shortly after hitting town, Tenry looked up his
cousin, notable local singer/songwriter and performer, Johnny Drummer, and the
two started playing together regularly. Eventually, Tenry and
his brothers formed "The Johns Brothers Band" playing behind the
fabulous Denise La Salle and her protege, Bill Coday.
Tenry is truly an authentic blues man of
our day; carrying on his family’s legacy as one of Chicago's Ambassadors of the
Blues to the world.
